ROLE - Final Project for University

Artistic Process
This project is an exercise in refining my skills to align with my career goals. Driven by my two passions—film and design—Designing the Unseen utilises research to create period and location-accurate props.
Set in the Pacific Northwest of America in 1989, the project focuses on creating props for David Lynch and Mark Frost’s iconic series Twin Peaks.
My work involves crafting detailed graphic props that actors would interact with, enhancing the tactile reality of the cinematic world.
Themes and Concepts
The graphics I have created, take direct inspiration from the fictional events and locations within Twin Peaks. This includes a menu and docket booklet for the town’s diner (the R&R), letterhead and postcards for the Great Northern Hotel, and a town newspaper featuring the pivotal event of the series—the death of Laura Palmer—as the headline. Each prop is designed to seamlessly blend into the narrative, contributing to the visual storytelling of the series.
Inspiration and Influences
I pursued this project due to my growing interest in graphic props, a passion ignited by the work of designer Annie Atkins, who has designed the graphic props for many Wes Anderson films. The idea of contributing to the greater narrative through design details, especially within the context of film, deeply appeals to me. This is where I envision my design practice evolving—using my skills to enrich cinematic stories through the medium of graphic props.
